The Arkansas Professional Photographers' Association is a group of photographers from Arkansas and neighboring states who meet several times a year for educational programs and social gatherings. Regardless of your level of involvement in professional photography, we have a place for you. Many members are full-time professional photographers with retail studios while others may be part-time and operate from their homes. Some members are just starting out in professional photography, while others have decades in the business. Regardless of a member's years of experience or newness to the field, there is a place for everyone to learn, and contribute to the learning experience of others.

APPA puts on three educational events each year: the annual convention in late spring/early summer, a fall seminar, and a spring seminar. At these events, both speakers from within APPA, as well as renowned photographers from other parts of the country, teach and demonstrate both photographic and business practices that work for them. APPA members also get together for a Christmas party in early December. It is not uncommon for members in different parts of the state to get together infomally to discuss techniques, visit one another's studios, or just hang out with people who love creating beautiful images.

Members have the opportunity to earn association degrees through accumulating credits, which are earned via service to the association, continuing photographic eductation, and entering the annual print competition.

There are several levels of membership in APPA. An Active Member is someone actively involved in professional photography, either as a studio owner, or someone who works as a staff photographer in a non-photographic company. Associate Membership is open to spouses and studio employees of active members. Sustaining Memberships are available to those in the industry that provide materials or service to photographers, and Student Membership is open to students currently enrolled in a college or university arts program with an emphasis in photography.

Active and Associate members whose place of business is in Arkansas receive no-cost registration to the regional SWPPA convention each year. People who want to attend the regional convention who are not members of their state affiliate pay $150-$200 registration. But when you are a member of APPA and your studio is in Arkansas, you just have to make sure you pre-register for the convention, or you will have to pay a $25 late registration fee.
