APPA Degree Program


ASSOCIATE FELLOW OF PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREE

Must be a member of APPA for three or more consecutive years.  Must have earned 25 credits with at least 10 to be achievement credits.

 

FELLOW OF PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREE

Must have earned a total of 50 credits.  Ten must be print credits and 20 must be achievement credits.

 

SENIOR FELLOW OF PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREE

100 credits of which sixty must be achievement credits.

 

CREDITS ARE EARNED AS FOLLOWS:

A.   ACHIEVEMENT CREDITS

For one year as Association President -- 5 Credits.

For one year as Vice President; Secretary; Treasurer; Official Editor of The Tripod -- 3 Credits.

For one year as Regional Director -- 1 Credit.

For each 3 years of membership in this Association -- 1 Credit.

Talent or Print Judge at a recognized photography convention -- 1 Credit.

For each new active member sponsored -- 1 Credit

For each year as Print Chairman -- 2 Credits.

For a member of print crew, print rack crew or any committee approved by the board - 1 Credit.

One year as Executive Secretary -- 3 Credits.

One year as Executive Treasurer -- 3 Credits.

Seminar chairman -- 1 Credit.

For each article published in The Tripod without illustration -- 1 Credit., with illustration -- 2 Credits.

Attendance at three APPA sponsored events during a calendar year -- 1 Credit.

Attendance at recognized PPA affiliated educational facility -- 2 Credits.

Members who have earned the following degrees: Master of Photography, Certified Professional Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Photographic Specialist or other degrees presented by PPA -- 3 Credits.

Delegate to SWPA and PPA -- 1 Credit.

Speaker at APPA Convention/Seminar -- 2 Credits.

 

B.   PRINT EXHIBITION CREDITS

1.   Beginning  in 1979 constitution changed to provide:

  Print scoring 76 -79 1 credit

  Print scoring 80 or above 2 credits

 

(No more than 12 print credits in any one year may be earned, effective 1995)

 

 

A.F.Ph.       Associate Fellow of Photography

      A degree awarded by APPA to  a member who has earned 25 credits, at least 10 of which must be achievement credits

 

F.Ph.                Fellow of Photography

A degree awarded by APPA to  a member who has earned 50 credits, at least 10 of which  are print exhibition credits for print competition, and 20 of which are achievement credits.

 

Sr.F.Ph                        Senior Fellow of Photography

      A degree awarded by APPA to a member who has earned 100 credits, at least 60 of which must be achievement credits.

 

M.Photog.        Master Photographer

      A degree awarded by Professional Photographers of America to a member who has earned 25 merits, at least 13 of which are print merits earned in PPA-recognized photographic competitions.

 

Photog.Cr.       Photographic Craftsman

      A degree awarded by Professional Photographers of America to a member who has earned 25 merits, at least 13 of which are for speaking at seminars or conventions, or teaching at a PPA-affiliated school.

 

CPP                 Certified Professional Photographer

      A degree awarded by Professional Photographers of America to a member who has passed a written test on the theory and practice of photography, and submitted a sample of his or her work from 20 different photographic quality of the body of work.

 

API                  Approved Photographic Instructor

      A degree awarded by Professional Photographers of America to indicate that the degree holder provides the highest quality of photographic instruction.
